'Ruining Lives'
Sounds really good from the songs I've heard. Outstanding guitar picking and production.

'Turnover' and 'The Book of Change' are my current fave tracks.

That is all.

I like that you used the phrase "guitar picking".
That is all.

Well what should I have used? You know I'm a huge fan of that palm muting sound. Tommy does it incredibly well. Has for decades, and the rhythms expand.

When I hear the work "picking" I think of country-western guitar players. That's all I meant. You know I love me a good palm mute, unlike say that snob xxxHunterxxx.

Weezil was right. Hunter can't play that style.

I never said I didn't like palm muting. I just can't do it.

I had the same thought, like maybe Tommy had started a bluegrass side project or something.

Their last worthwhile effort was Force Fed. Band was over decades ago.

Obviously you have not heard a note from 'Power of the Damager', 'Carved into Stone' or the new album.

I just about go as far as Cleansing, but even that is more nostalgia than anything. Any releases I heard after that I thought were terrible.

'Scorpio Rising' is a bad record and I don't like the selection and sound on "100% Live", but all three of the most recent releases are top notch and return to the 'Force Fed' more straight forward attack. I miss Mike Kirkland and Ted Parsons too, but Tommy was essentially the brainchild of the band and is one fuck of a great guitarist and a real cool guy.

Yeah, it kills me some times. We had an terrific record in us to record and we just couldn't get our (collective) shit together.

I'll give it a shot. But the band is nearly 30 years past their prime. To me it's like saying "obviously you have never heard a note from Death Magnetic.
Maybe it's decent, but at this point, what is the point?

No love for Beg to Differ on here? I haven't heard any of their subsequent records, but like that one a lot.

not a fan. you could tell they compromised what they were doing to reach a bigger audience. i thought it was extremely generic compared to the crazy shit they were doing previous.

i don't think it was really a matter of that so much as they were listening to other stuff. the guy from killing joke produced cleansing if i am not mistaken. i guess you could argue prove you wrong was a much more mainstream album since the single was trying to cash in on primus sort of. i just prong as a band who always did their own thing but they definitely got cleaner/groovier with every album.

I think that is true to an extent, but if I am being honest, I enjoy that one way more than the previous stuff I had heard by them (I think Force Fed). And they do a Chrome cover on it!

I seriously hope not. They are doing very well now. Still a big following and consistently great batch of records. A covers album would be crud.
