New Raveonettes LP Out Today

Was this a surprise release, or was I just not paying attention?

Is this the band where the guitarist dates Kate Moss or is that the Kills?

That's Jamie Hince of The Kills.

Yes this one kinda slept up on me, too. I didn't realize it was actually out today. I am really looking forward to hearing it.

Good record. I'm pretty amazed by the fact that they've managed to not only continue to put out quality records this far into their career, but every one of them sounds different from the last.

I like it on first listen, but I'm not feeling it nearly as much as Observator, at least not initially. I have to give it more time, though. It's their less poppy, heavier shoegaze, more experimental side, which in general I find less appealing (most appealing is when the sides are combined; noise and melody together) as it doesn't play to their biggest strengths ('50s/early '60s melodies set to stun level volume).

It's all there, just maybe a little more buried in some cases.

Yeah, I have a feeling I'll like this Lp a lot more after more listens. It's just not nearly as immediate like its predecessor.

I’ve yet to listen to it, but I really enjoyed the last LP.

Gee, I wonder why.

Without even reading the review, they didn't like the last album (possibly their career best), so I don't really give a hoot what they think of it.

I kinda forgot about this band after their first couple of releases. At one point I had a couple of their CDs but don't have them anymore. I looked them up and didn't realize they had so many albums in the interim. I do recall hearing their last album in a store awhile back and it sounded very different (in a good way) from what their earlier stuff was like. Haven't heard anything off the new one.

I thought their last album (2012's The Observator) was quite possibly their career peak. I am still blown away by how good it is, but for a while I was kind of like you. I almost gave up on them after being disappointed with Pretty in Black, but slowly and surely, I have liked every one of their subsequent releases more and more. Being off a major label was a really good move for them as they have been consistently really good to great since then.
