Government Issue Live Bootleg Series

Finally! Here is the Anti-Apartheid Benefit show at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium on May 9, 1986. The line-up at this point was John Stabb - vocals, Tom Lyle - guitar, J. Robbins - bass, and Sean Saley - drums. By this time Sean (Pentagram 2012-2015, The Skull 2015-) had been with GI since about the beginning of the year, and J. Robbins was playing bass in the band for longer than that, so GI was in great form. By this time this line-up had played shows in DC, Pennsylvania (the Electric Banana in Pittsburgh), New Jersey (Trenton's City Gardens) and New York at CBGB, Irving Plaza and The Ritz (now called Webster Hall). This is a great show, but the best part was was when the crotchety old stage manager attempted to eject the band from the building -- because even after giving the band strict orders to keep the audience in their seats (!) -- GI disobeyed him and proceeded to allow the audience to enjoy themselves.

GI is a group of grown men who enjoy torturing each other and the crowd.
