I loved them so much as a teenager. They were so weird. Punk dudes liked them, metalheads liked them, girls liked them, band nerds liked them. Weird.
I had NO IDEA they put out any records after RdlH. I wish I didn't.
Same on all counts except I knew about the later records, but just have no interest in them; heard one years ago and it was awful; they were my favorite band when I was 15 and I saw them in New Orleans a few months after Ritual came out.

The actual "Jane" was a friend of an ex-girlfriend. We went to a show together. She was nice.

Let's see if Randie has any personal connection to this song...

Yeah, I like them too - enough that I'm upgrading my CD copies to the original Clay CDs.
They were great when I saw them a few years ago also.

I have these if you are interested in buying them from me.
I like it, but I think it's actually kinda overrated. I know some folks (yourself included) who rate it as not only of equal quality to their 1st 2 albums, but as the best album of 1997. I just don't really hear it; sorry. The 1st 2 >>> everything else they did, though I like this one more than Happy Days or Wishville.

Fantastic playlist; looks a bit like one of mine; just played that Sloan 12" a few times over the weekend (just got it) and it's so good and got Outlandos on cassette the other day. I don't care how much of a shmuck Ryan Adams is, that 1984 EP is pure gold.

Yeah, that Sloan record is great... it actually reminds me alot of 1984 in concept and execution, so that's why I pulled that out again... IIRC, the Sloan record originally came out about a year or two before the Ryan Adams one... always wondered if the RA record was inspired by/a reaction to the original Sloan release

You're right. It came out in 2013 (or maybe 2012) and I remember hearing it then; very glad all the songs made it onto vinyl and that they made the 7" tracks available again. I definitely see the connection between that and the DRA 7", too; very similar concepts/execution, etc. The Sloan one has a lot less angst, though, or is it just me? It wouldn't surprise me if DRA did that as a reaction to the Sloan record, but at the time, I attributed it as a continuation of what he did in The Finger with Jesse Malin and his '80s punk background (he's talked about Honor Role, etc.).

Pretty f'n incredible. Arkestra opened and joined them for about half of the set; lots of covers, including Ramones/Cramps/Shangri-Las for the encore.
