Daghouse Friday Night Drinking crew

I hadn't bought any beer in a month or two (trying to cut back and I have), but I saw a sale on Goose Island IPA a few days and bought a six-pack. As always, it's delicious. I don't care who owns them; the taste is the same. That's it for now on this topic.

I've only had 8 beers in the last 2+ weeks.

You guys should check a Danish film called ANOTHER ROUND (it's on HULU, and other streaming services). It stars Mads Mikkelsen, from HANNIBAL.
Anyway, the general premise is that this group of middle-aged men propose to go through their daily lives just-a-little-bit-drunk all day, to see if it improves their social and business interactions. The idea is that when were buzzed (but not falling down drunk) we're more open, more receptive, more sympathetic, and just plain fun to be around. They start drinking when they wake up and try to maintain a consistent BAC level all day. It goes to some very interesting places - some very funny, and some not so.
Check it out.

Sounds like my type of normal weekend.

Won't be drinking again this coming weekend until maybe a few Saturday night. COVID 2nd shot on Thursday, rest Friday, drive 10+ hours to Knoxville Saturday, and 8+ hour drive to MS on Sunday.

April 23-30 may have quite a bit of drinking in Memphis and Nashville though to get my BAC level back to the levels my body is accustomed to carrying.

Typical Daghouse.

9 pages of what people are drinking. And less than 3 pages of what people are reading.

Way to go, gang.

I am supposed to start an 18 hour drive on Saturday morning so I hope any side effects are not 30 hours. How long after your shot did it take for them to start?

Grogginess started in about 3 hours. Fever and chills started about 4 hours later.

I braced for the worst after my second dose, but all I experienced was a slightly sore arm and some general fatigue that was gone by the next morning.

I had braced for the worst too and planned to start my drive on Saturday instead of Friday after a Thursday shot. At about 10:30 on Friday morning, I decided I was going to wrap up my work meetings and hop in the car and start my drive. I booked a hotel in Roanoke and drove 6 hours. Hit two breweries then hit the bed and slept for 10+ hours before I headed to Knoxville.

Coming up on 6 years here in PA already. My brother's BBQ biz is doing great. He just opened back up for his season this weekend. I think he is in year 9 or 10 now.

Drinking - Victory Brewing Co. variety pack (3 each of 5 different flavors; there was a pretty good lo-cal one, their Golden Monkey and now I'm onto the Sour ones; excellent) oh and I'm pretty much California sober these days; I'll have one of these per night, two if I'm getting crazy lol

Vaccine - got the J&J a while back; like scannest, I just had some shoulder/arm pain where the shot was administered and some general fatigue/nausea that may not even be completely related, long story short. Wishing you all health and hope you've gotten your shots!

It seems like Victory has moved away from Stouts, Porters, and Lagers so I don't buy their beers anymore. They used to make a great stout that scored a 98 on some beer list.

I vaguely remember their stout, too, but now they're all about IPA variants, sours, etc. 98? Wow. That's likely Beer Advocate's list, but I don't know for sure.

Only a 91 on there. It was some high end critic site but I don't remember the name. It was a really good beer. After six of them, I would be feeling pretty good.

I'm pretty sure I've had it. I recognize the can/brand. For wintery/seasonal type stuff, this is always my go-to if I can find it. It's not a stout, though, but rather a Belgian-style dark ale. I managed to find some at a Trader Joe's near here a few months back and got quite excited.

6 of them? I could barely handle 2-3 of those TBH. I'd be on the floor.

Thanks for the offer! It's really easy to find in PA since they're based in Harrisburg, so that makes sense. It's sometimes on tap at certain bars in the Philly area during the holiday season, too. If you ever see that, don't miss it. I remember Eulogy in Old City having it, for example.

I am not a user of untapped. Not sure if I will make it to the GA/FL any time soon. The places I stopped were all along my drive on I-40 and I-81 from my house to my mother in law's in MS.

I haven't had any alcohol in as far back as I can remember, which is probably for the best. Maybe a few years. I think I was at a show at Pugs on Staten Island and I took a few shots of Grey Goose.

I have a bunch of drink tickets for the bar next to the hotel we're staying at; haven't used them yet; will try to tonight and report back. I think they have lots of craft beer on tap.

Lagunitas IPA on tap (good as always) at a bowling alley a few days ago then a poorly diluted rum & Coke

That is a strange combo. Gin is way too floral for me to mix it with anything other than tonic or seltzer water.
