I typically use them as an example in conversations about how the hardcore scene of the 80's, despite it's mythical status, became synonymous with horrible music made by people barely trying as an excuse to propel related externalities such as organizing shows, moshing around with your friends in abandoned warehouses, and designing fliers. Sometimes I'll switch it up by using Bad Posture instead of VA. Anyway, I'll admit I barely remember what either of them sound like. And I do have a verbal abuse t shirt.

Original vocalist Nicki Sicki has been back in the band for 10 year or so.

I maintain that the 'music' aspect of bands like these prioritize the actual music part very low on their list of objectives. They seem to not have improved one iota after almost 3 decades. How can someone possibly not get any better in that span of time? The answer is that they don't give a fuck. This is all just a not-very-elaborate scheme to be the center of attention for a few moments.
Secondly, is that the same singer? God damn. Looks like it's been a long, hard ride.

This is the vocalist I remember. Didn't he, or the band, pull double duty as some other shitty hardcore band at the same time?

Comparing the 1988 set to the 2014 one, I'd say they actually got worse.

I never delved any farther into their discography, and I have no clue about whatever lineup changes got them to this record... but I think it's OK for what it is as a product of its time and circumstances... the Elton John cover is fun anyway.

Your memory of the band name is pretty right on:

Pete from VA, Bobby from Soulside, and Dug from Beefeater. I should have liked them more than I did.

Yeah, the two bros that were the rhythm section on Trial. My one and only complaint about trial is that the bass is a little too low in the mix.

Those brothers never recorded with VA.
